Each year, The Haven-Friends for Life serves at least 3,000 homeless animals. Since our inception in 1996, The Haven-Friends for Life has performed over 22,000 spay/neuter surgeries and accomplished over 25,000 adoptions. We received over 500 abandoned animals this way in 2006. Many we find abandoned at our gates, some tied to the trees or fence posts. We also receive animals being surrendered by their owners and, in 2007, approximately 90% of our owner-surrendered animals were surrendered by military personnel because of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our cooperative agreements with animal control and humane organizations across the state has reduced the euthanasia rates in some counties by as much as 50%, saving taxpayers money and saving the lives of thousands of animals. In 2007, we found loving homes for almost 1800 abandoned pets and provided spay/neuter services for approximately 3600 companion animals. Established in 1996 to help solve the problem of abandoned animals, we feel that The Haven-Friends for Life has become the most successful no-kill animal shelter in North Carolina. The The Haven-Friends for Life No-Kill Animal Shelter, located in Raeford, North Carolina is an Animal Shelter that provides temporary housing and care for. Our mission here at The Haven-Friends for Life is to end the needless euthanasia of adoptable companion animals to educate the public about animal care issues and responsibilities and to create a Companion Animal Center which has a significant impact on the homeless companion animal population in eastern North Carolina, and is ultimately beneficial to all the citizens and residents of this State. The Haven is currently providing shelter to approximately 1,000 abandoned pets. The Haven-Friends for Life is a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue organization located on 150 acres of farmland off of Highway 211 between Raeford and Aberdeen, near Carolina Horse Park.
